The air is freezing cold, the streets and sidewalks covered in slush and ice, but that doesn’t stop New Yorkers from looking their best at Fashion Week. I love the people watching at Bryant Park almost as much as the actual shows. Sequins at 10 am, bare legs in the winter…somehow, it works. This morning I went to Michael Kors, true American sportswear and always one of my faves. Loved the luxurious cashmeres and sweater dresses paired with leg warmers and boots. I love me a leg warmer.
The big snowpocalypse in NYC wasn’t nearly as ferocious as predicted, but it sure did make for a beautiful day. I had lunch yesterday with my friend and favorite shoe designer, the super-talented Brian Atwood. Even though he spends most of his time in Milan eating fabulous Italian food, we cozied in at a Milanese restaurant right here in my neighborhood, Sant Ambroeus. I had the minestrone and lentil salad, he had carciofi and panini — so deliciously perfect on a cold snowy day. I was thrilled and honored to discover that Brian has named a shoe after me, the “Katie Lee,” in his upcoming Spring/Summer 2010 collection, featured in this month’s Town and Country. Very cool!]>

One of the few nice things about jet lag (more like the only nice thing about jet lag) is getting to experience a time of day when you’re not usually awake. I flew from Miami to LA yesterday and still on east coast time, woke up around 5 this morning. I am staying with friends in Malibu and I watched a beautiful sunrise over the Pacific. The clouds were pink and the sun shimmered golden on the deep blue water. In truly a magical moment, I spotted dolphins jumping just in front of the house. Such a special way to start the day. Almost makes me want to get up extra early every morning (almost).
